2020 is set to be an exciting year of racing as Ireland hosts plenty of weekends of competition, yet again displaying the best international talent on the road racing scene.
The Mid Antim 150 is unfortunately not on this year's calendar, so Cookstown on 24-25th April is the first event of the year. Racing then stays North of the border with the Tandragee 100 on 1st-2nd May.
June sees racing at Kells (20th-21st) but unfortunately the Enniskillen event will not take place this year.
The historic Kerries 100 takes racing south of the border on 4th and 5th July. Advances in safety over the years have resulted in a shorter and shorter circuit, but fantastic viewing opportunities are always available around the track. Walderstown (11th-12th) and the Faugheen 50 (18th-19th) are in the heart of the summer racing period and should attract an enthusiastic crowd of fans from throughout the country.
The busy month of July ends in Armoy, with the Race of Legends on the 24th and 25th. Notwithstanding the great racing, the area around Armoy is steeped in history and places to visit. The Dark Hedges, Bushmills Distillery, Giant's Causeway, Joey Dunlop Memorial Garden, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Rathlin Island are all attractions within a short distance. If you missed any of the scenery of the North Coast during the Northwest 200 in May, then you can catch up during the Armoy weekend.
The Dundrod 150 national road races, which traditionally ran on the Thursday of Bike Week, will be replaced with an extended running order for the international MCE Ulster Grand Prix, with dates August to be confirmed. Changes are being made to the event to increase rider and spectator safety, including a warm-up session on the Saturday morning instead of the traditional Superpole event. MCE is sponsoring the event and we wish them all the best with a successful weekend.
The 2020 road racing calendar ends with the East Coast Racing Festival, sponsored by our partner broker, Carole Nash.
Road racing is a fantastic opportunity for a family day out, or meeting up with fellow motorcyclists if you decide to travel on two wheels. Paddy Compare offers a range of insurance products, and has teamed up with Carole Nash to help you get a quote on your motorbike insurance.
